Somersault, Pt IV

Somersault, Pt IV

“Well-” I was about to say something, but turned out she hasn’t finished.
“I thought I knew what I wanted, you know. I mean, everything seems perfect back then. I had a bunch of cool friends and become some kind of popular clique and it feels like we rule the world. Nothing could go wrong. It’s like I’m having a mid-life crisis when I’m not even 20 yet,”
“In everyone’s defense, nobody really knows what they want. At least nobody our age does. And when you won’t know what you want until you’re like 40 or something and by the time you’ll be too old to use it,”
“Wait, wait, wait. Did you just quote ’10 Things I Hate about You?” her smile began to resurface.
“As a matter of fact, I might or might not be,” I gave a teasing look, raised an eyebrow.
“As a matter of fact, you totally did,”
“Whatever. Now that your peculiar self has submerged and the real you has officially come back, let’s have a little bit of fun, shall we?”
“I’m sorry. Peculiar? What was that supposed to mean?”
“Never mind, I was just joking. Now enough of the deep shit talk, let’s do something fun. Real, crazy kind of fun,”
“Who are you and what did you do to Jace?”
“Oh, shut up. You just don’t know the REAL me” I said as I packed my stuff.
She just shrugged and took my car key from my hand. “Who says YOU’RE driving?” and walked away towards the car. I, without having any complain at all, followed her. Maybe, this wasn’t so bad after all.
After a few minutes driving the car, she started to get anxious, more and more so each mile. She didn’t say anything, but she keeps gripping to the steering wheel tightly and release it and gripping it again it drives me crazy.
            “Stop it,”
            “What?”
            “That!”
            “That what?”
“Hold on and let go the steering wheel over and over again,”
“Can you just tell me where exactly we’re going? I’m going insane”
“Hey, you were the one who said are willing to follow me wherever I wanted to go,” I said as a matter-of-factly. “Just, relax, okay? Let the journey of life takes you wherever it goes. It’s nice to not have control of everything all the time, you know,”
She took a deep breath, crack her neck to left and right. “Okay, okay,” and she stepped on the gas.
[What is it that I am aiming for from this story I have no idea]
